Our help articles are designed for the TRMNL hardware, so they may refer to buttons or switches that differ from Seeed Studio devices. Please refer to the Wiki documentation above for hardware button functionality.
Using Seeed Studio Software
Seeed Studio provides various software with their products, detailing on the product page where you made your purchase. This includes tools for Home Assistant. You do not need to connect to TRMNL to use these features.
Connecting to TRMNL (BYOD License)
You will need to purchase a BYOD license to use usetrmnl.com as your server for your Seeed device. After purchasing your license:
Create a BYOD device: https://usetrmnl.com/claim-a-device
Visit your device settings page to select your Device Model and set your DIY device's MAC address
When you first boot your Seeed device, it may display a message regarding "Need to register your MAC Address."
This should be completed following the steps above.
Connecting to Your Server (BYOS)
You are welcome to Bring Your Own Server (BYOS), no license required, for any TRMNL compatible device. If using Terminus, you can also refer to our Terminus setup guide.
